Samsung has been a force of reckoning in the laptop space for a number of years now, and that looks set to continue with the imminent reveal of the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and its 2-in-1 counterpart, the Galaxy Book Pro 360.

The latest available model, the Galaxy Book Flex, was a very impressive laptop, especially in regards to its beautiful display. However, it also left a lot to be desired in certain aspects of its build quality, mediocre audio quality and its expensive price point.

Now, with recent Samsung Galaxy Book models behind us, including the Flex and Ion, we caught a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro - and the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 - at the Samsung Unpacked 2021 event on April 28.

We learned more about the specs of the two laptops, including the size, weight, price, and what configurations would be available at launch. We also learned that the displays will be AMOLED panels with VESA DisplayHDR 500 support and DCI-P3 color gamut, which should all look very impressive. There will also be Dolby Atmos support as well.

There will also be LTE connectivity for the 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Pro and 5G connectivity for the 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360, as well as S Pen stylus compatibility for the latter. The two will also feature the latest Intel 11th-generation processors. Importantly, the two laptops will also be available in the UK at the same time it launches in the US, with Australia availability yet to be announced.

Samsung Galaxy Book Pro release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 will launch in the US and UK on May 14, 2021, with preorders available now. There is no word yet on Australian availability, but it should be released in this market sometime in the next six months.

For the 13.3-inch models, prices for the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro start at $999.99 / £1,099 (around AU$2,000) and $1,199.99 / £1,199 (around AU$2,150) for the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360.

For the 15.6-inch models, prices for the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro start at $1,099.99 / £1,199 (around AU$2,150) and  $1,299.99 / £1,259 (around AU$2,200) for the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360.

This puts the 13.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Pro at roughly the same price as the latest Apple MacBook Air, and comes in under the price of the latest Samsung Galaxy Book Flex, which started at $1,399 (about £1,120, AU$2,180).

Samsung Galaxy Book Pro design and specs

Samsung revealed that there will be three color schemes for the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro and Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360: Mystic Silver and Mystic Blue for both, with the Galaxy Book Pro also coming in Mystic Pink Gold and the Galaxy Book Pro 360 also coming in Mystic Bronze.

We were also given more details on the spec breakdown of the two laptops, that indicate what kind of configurations will be available at launch.

For the Galaxy Book Pro, there will be both Wi-Fi and 5G/LTE models, featuring Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors, with Intel UHD graphics for the Core i3 models and Intel Iris Xe graphics for the Core i5 and Core i7 models.

You will be able to get up to 32GB RAM in both the 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models, with up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage. There will be a Thunderbolt 4 port along with another USB Type-C port, a USB Type-A Gen 3.2, a 3.5mm combo jack and a MicroSD card slot. For the 13.3-inch models, there will also be a nano SIM slot for LTE connectivity.

For the Galaxy Book Pro 360, the only real deviation from the above is that on the 13.3-inch 360 models, you will only be able to get up to 16GB RAM, you'll have a second USB Type-C port instead of a USB Type-A Gen 3.2, and the 13.3-inch 360 model will have the option for 5G connectivity.
