Lenovo is exaggerating a little with the discount here, as we don't believe for a moment that this laptop was ever over $1,000. Still, the price it's available for right now is excellent for a laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. It's rare to find both of these in a device for around $200. Together, they give this otherwise basic, compact and portable 11-inch Windows machine a solid performance boost so that it can comfortably keep up with everyday use, schoolwork, admin tasks, and general browsing.

It was a tough sell at full whack, but this discount makes it much better value for money. In our <a href="https://www.techradar.com/reviews/apple-macbook-pro-13-inch-m2-2022" data-link-merchant="techradar.com"" data-link-merchant="Amazon US"">MacBook Pro 13-inch M2 review, we loved this premium Apple laptop for its high performance in creative tasks such as photo and video editing, as well as the impressive battery life of around 15 hours, even though it wasn't a revolutionary upgrade from the previous model.

If you prefer a larger workstation then consider upgrading to the XPS 15 that's also in the Dell 4th of July sale. It's a nearly identical specification to the XPS 13 above, aside from a slightly newer processor, so expect a similar level of performance. The main difference is the jump up to a larger 15.6-inch display, which will be better for photo and video editing but it does make the device less portable.

On the budget side of things, this Lenovo IdeaPad offers a decent level of specs for the cash thanks to a combination of a Ryzen 5 chip and RTX 3050. This one is a decent buy at this price point (and the best cheap machine going right now) but we have seen a few better super-budget buys crop up over the past month or so. We'd probably recommend spending a bit more in the 4th of July laptop sales if you can afford it as there aren't that many good options in this price bracket in our opinion.
